Build 250 is ready (test pilots only)
This is the version I’ve submitted to the App Store.

* Fixed a typo in Merritt Island
* Added missing library to linker to run on iOS 3.x

Good news: 2.6.2 passed the review and should be ready to download from the App Store within the next few hours.

I've just noticed that the news screen isn't optimised for the widescreen of the iPhone 5:

Yeah, I know. I didn’t want to mess with the HTML, so I left the view controller at the original iPhone width. I’ll fix this with the next update, but I guess it’s no big deal.

There are now three 1-star reviews (thanks a lot) for version 2.6.2, all mentioning problems with the tilt controls. Come on, there are so many ways to contact me, so please, if you think you’ve found a bug, report it in a way that I can respond to. If I don’t know what the problem is, I can’t fix it, which is quite frustrating.

Tilt controls work fine on all my devices, but are a bit on the snappy side on the iPad mini. Looks like gyro bias and accelerometer noise differ a lot between devices, and Apple’s filtering algorithms might differ between iOS releases too, so it’s gonna be hard to find something that works equally well across all devices.

Could everybody who’s reading this and has a minute to spear please do the following test:

Start a new flight in tilt-control mode with tilt-with-device turned on, and wind and turbulence turned completely off. In virtual cockpit mode, zoom out all the way (to the widest angle possible). Hold it absolutely still level in front of you (or even prop it up on a table or something) and check whether the virtual cockpit remains steady or if there’s some kind of jitter. Please let me know your findings, and if there is jitter, let me know the exact device model and iOS version number.

The last version uses the iOS provided gravity vector, unfiltered, for both the roll command input and the screen rotation. Previous versions (which used my own filters) used two different filters, a “faster” one for the roll input and a smoother one for the screen rotation. This makes me think that the problem (that, according to the reviews, “ruins the simulation”) might be perceived problems from the snappier screen rotation. I could add a filter just for the screen rotation to make it appear more smooth. But still, I don’t see *any* problem on my test devices, and by now I have quite a respectable number of them…

Hi Sascha, on my iPhone 4S 16Gb iOS 6.0.1 it's perfectly rock solid. No jitter, almost a straight flight. I'll do the tests in other devices later tonight

No problems here, on iPhone 5 or iPad 3 (both iOS 6.0.1). Both did roll slightly to the left though.
